Hi, my dearest friends Daf and Tere, and all,

Those who appreciate the value of “sharing” for learning….and for life, will find this the most appropriate, successful, enjoyable way of adding not only information and knowledge to their professional growth, but also new friends.

I have used blogs with my students and carried out projects involving the use of blogs as asynchronous tools, and am also blogging with my CALL SIG with teachers in Rosario, Argentina. It’s only by “using” that you’ll realize the potential blogs have for language learning, providing an arena for common exchanges between students and teachers all over the world.

You are in the right place to start. Congrats on your having chosen to be here. An have a great time!

I thought I had already left a message here.
I wonder how emoticons are inserted.
Otherwise this is easy enough to become a very useful tool.
    cheers: Peter

This is so simple, even I can comment!

Becoming more comfortable with blogs and learning to use a few more tools are my personal goals. It’s fun to see all the comments.

It’s too bad Chrissan hasn’t seen natually ripened lemons. We took my mom to the Isle of Capri in Italy several years ago. The ripe lemons are everywhere!

Great looking blog, Dafne and Teresa … Gladys, thanks for your help with
emoticons, ; + ) Like Peter, I did not know how to insert them either.

Here, we call lemons what are really limes (small and green) but Dafne just told me if I don´t answer the question, my comment will not appear. Smart move, moderators …

  • 11    Berta // Jan 19, 2006 at 3:05 pm

Well, it seems I don´t know how to create emoticons yet. Let me try again … : + ( =

  • 12    ciaffaroni // Jan 19, 2006 at 8:34 pm

Who tought about ripe lemons? was is a default feature or did you device it Daf?
    Way to go
    MT
    :+)

  • 13    gladysbaya // Jan 19, 2006 at 10:22 pm

To all those who are trying to insert emoticons: you need to type just punctuation marks, not the mathematical symbols.
E.g. colon and closing bracket will produce a smiley.

    Sorry that wasn’t clear!

MT: the question on the ripe lemons is the “gatekeeper” by default at Edublog (to avoid getting spammed). Bloggers can change it for any question they like!

    LOL,
    Gladys

Dear Tere and Daf: This is the first time I use a blog. As I see it, it has a lot of potential as a tool for education. The more I discover new interactive tools in the internet I feel I’m going one step forward in the knowledge of the the new facilities found for teachers in the web. Thank you very much for your sharing :)
    (Thanks Gladys ;) )

    Hi dear Daf and Tere,

You are doing great! This blog looks very nice. I knew how using Web blogs, but have never used it because of my webproject for English Clubs.

I see that our colleagues who didn’t know about Blogs are so happy to learn about web tools.

    Well done!

Thanks everybody for your lovely and encouraging messages :-)

I was reluctant to using blogs, but once I started using them and then incorporating them to my class activities, I became another citizen of the blogsphere :-)

    hugs,

    Daf

Although I haven’t had a chance to participate as much as I’d like to, I’m really enjoying this experience! Thank you for leading us.

This is my first experience with blogs. I would really like to incorporate the use of blogs into my composition classroom. Here is my idea:

When the students complete their research paper, they are required to keep a research notebook with source information and notes on the research process, etc. I was thinking this would work well as a blog, since students make multiple entries per week in the research notebook.
