Yes! This year’s session started with a “grand opening” at Worldbridges. As announced by EVO coordinator, Elizabeth Hanson-Smith, the session was scheduled for 15:00 GMT, yet over 20 participants had started exploring such an interesting environment about half an hour before.
This being my second time as a BAWer, I felt ready to try this tool. Had I started like that last year, I think I would have fainted! Making use of Skype and teleconference, supplemented with text chat. Over 40 EVO participants from God knows how many countries interacted at the meeting. Over 47 countries from the five continents were reported to have joined EVO even before its official launch, and workshop moderators briefly presented the sessions they will be conducting. The atmosphere was superb, as it is always the case with EVO meetings, and a mid-term and end-of-the-workshop meetings have already been announced.
Jeff was a superb moderator, and the quality sound was just perfect! Even though most of us had never been at Worldbridges before, the whole session was a success, and I’d say it encouraged all participants to try new synchronous activities soon.
Did you miss it? Or were you there but you’d like to re-live it? Listen to what went on at:
http://worldbridges.com/livewire/2006/01/15/118/ (downloadable MP3)
or just read the chat transcript!
Were you there too? What did you think of it?

Great account of the session, Gladys, thanks a lot! I would have to add the marvelous job of Elizabeth as the master of the ceremony. WoW, is she good at that!
I fell in love with Worldbridges at first sight
Buth and I were the first webheads to contact Jeff in their first webcast to the world
We will have Jeff and Dave as our guest speakers in week 2. Stay tuned!
hugs,
Daf

It was indeed a great session. I enjoyed it very much. Voice chatting etools are always very efficient means of communication. I enjoyed hearing the voices of the speakers. Some I had heard before, but others were totaly new to me. Through the voice we can convey our messages in a more emotional way and it makes us feel more closer to each other. In all it was a great oportunity for interacting!

The session was a true success.Dr. Elizabeth, with her welcoming new comers and encourging participants, made the room atmosphere as if we were “home”,though most of us were first-time-users. webheaders helped each other when help was needed.I think, by the end of the workshop,we will turn into experts who can follow chat text, voice, replying to questions, following discussions at the same time. Now I know that we, me and Leanne, wil lhave fun with Jeff and Dave on week 2.

Dear all,
I must admit I logged in a bit late although Gladys had reminded me of the right time (time zones have always been hard on me!), but I could listen to the second half of the live presentation and was really amazed at the voice quality of the cast (Scott sounded particularly terrific!!!). Now I’ve downloaded the whole thing to listen to it again and keep it as a souvenir of my first meeting with teleconference.
Warm regards from Claudia (in constant extasis since I joined the group!!!)

Dear Gladys,
What a fabulous and enthusiastic account!
I was there too as a first timer and enjoyed every minute. Jeff was a superb host and I had a great tip from Sus/anne Nyrop about the two voice tools, because people were hearing an echo and sometimes two people speaking at the same time. It seemed confusing!
Well, we have to choose Real Player (RP) or Windows Media Player (WMP) to listen to the Webcast and we use Skype when we want to talk. The trick is to deactivate the sound software (RP or WMP) when you use Skype to speak.
Thanks, Sus! You saved me from getting all mixed up!
Hugs all,
Teresa

What a nice and enthusiastic account of eVO opening official session, Gladys! I listened to the mp3 recording and I enjoyed the session thouroughly. Elisabeth is a wonderful moderator and master of ceremonies and all the seminar moderators are really competent and professional. Pity I couldn’t attend. I’m having quite a tight schedule at school at the moment. End of term commitments, you know. I hope we will have a chance to try Worldbridges out some other time

Hi Tere and All,
Jeff and Dave have created a guide for first timers where they give very practical suggestions to get ready for participating in a webcast. Here is the link, and we will make sure to post it to the list before our next webcast (week 2):
Webcast Participation Guide
Hope it is helpful
